Role Overview: Cultural/Language Interpretation Volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring effective communication between our healthcare providers and patients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. As a Cultural/Language Interpretation Volunteer, you will help bridge language barriers, promote cultural understanding, and ensure that all patients receive the care they need in a respectful and compassionate manner.
Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services for patients and healthcare providers during medical appointments, consultations, and follow-up visits.
- Assist with translating written materials such as forms, instructions, and educational materials.
- Help our team understand and navigate cultural practices and beliefs that may impact patient care.
- Support our efforts to provide culturally competent care by sharing insights and feedback from your community.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of patients at all times.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in English and at least one other language.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain neutrality and professionalism while interpreting.
- Previous experience in interpretation or translation is preferred but not required.
